Measuring Progress - The 100 Family Study
How can MC-D best determine that their strategies are improving lives and communities?
To answer this question, MC-D and its partners are stepping up efforts to more rigorously measure the impact their strategies and activities are having on families and neighborhoods.
The Participant Family Data Collection (PFDC) survey will provide a long-term and in-depth look at more than 100 families who are actively involved in activities sponsored by MC-D or its partners. The Community Research Team developed and piloted the questions and members are completing the first round of in-person interviews in 2007. This survey is examining outcomes quantitatively – capturing, for example, how many more people are getting jobs and keeping them longer. It also involves personal interviews to capture “the story behind the numbers,” including factors that are leading to children’s success in school or family economic success. The 100-family survey will be conducted annually through 2010.
